I picked up the car from TC Design this week, and as usual, Tony and Joe did a great job.

What’d they do, you ask?

  • Moved the window net rearward. Now I can get my finger out there to do a point-by. That’s not for my competition, that’s for those crazy-fast ITE cars.
  • Re-did the custom center console, so that the gauges are mounted better, and tilted towards me so that I can read them more easily.
  • Built a trunk floor to protect the battery, and remounted the cool suit cooler bracket.
  • Rebuilt the floor on the driver’s floor area, to be flatter and now it incorporates a dead pedal.
  • Added some shoulder harness guides so that they can’t possibly fall off the HANS.
  • Gave me a NASA logbook with an annual inspection.
  • Replaced the flimsy fiberboard tabletop and shelves in the trailer with aluminum.
  • Welded the trailer anti-sway ball to the tongue (it was poorly bolted before).
  • Repaired the trailer door.

And, they found my long-missing watch, which was apparently tucked between the pads of the race seat.

So, we’re almost ready to go! Before the first race weekend this year, I still need to change all the fluids and put on a fresh set of tires. And give the car a serious bath.

Before the first SCCA weekend, the car will need new numbers. And before the first BMWCCA weekend, the car will need a lot of new graphics. Naturally, I’ll try to kill two birds with one stone in that regard!

BMWCCA also currently requires a right-side net, even with a head-restraint seat. I haven’t done that yet, I hope the rule will change.
